Matthew Rutten: The Beauty of Colour and Silk

Matthew Rutten's latest exhibition “The Beauty of Colour” presents a great range of art works. Matthew furthered his artistic education at Melbourne College of Textiles, his work is done using cold batik wax called guta, and the washes are done using silk dyes and salt. Each piece is a one off design all done freehand.

Matthew's scarves are very popular, having sold out at one exhibitions and being exhibited as part of Dandenong Ranges Open Studios, Lady Hawke Cafe and for a group exhibition at Steps Gallery, Carlton.

Inspirational, honest deceiving, words can be many things to many people. This striking exhibition delves into Mark Smith's world with honesty, sensitivity and grit.

Amy Middleton: Seekers

Amy Middleton was born in South Africa but spent many nomadic years travelling the world to find her home in Australia. Seekers is a series of illustrations that salute the pursuit of adventure. Amy’s lines of pen and ink pay tribute to unfamiliar explorers, fictional maps and unconventional landmarks.

Artist Workshop: How to price artwork 

The price-tag you place on your artwork is one of the trickiest conundrums an artist has to solve. Please join us for a workshop designed to take some of the guess work out the process.

This workshop has been developed by Dawna Richardson-Hyde, for practising artists who would like a better understanding of how to price artwork. You will learn how to price and cost artwork, as well as the intricacies of gallery commissions and implications of GST on the sale price of artwork.

When: Wednesday 19th February, 11am to 2pm
Where: Workshop space at Burrinja, 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey
Cost: $10 per person (no concessions). Free for 2014 Dandenong Ranges Open Studio participants
